Custom models are gorgeous and, if you are careless, expensive. The good news: performance is mostly a design decision you make before export, not a mystery you debug later.

Bone count is the big lever Every bone is work the server does each tick, so a boss with 60 bones in a 20-player raid is very different from one with 15. Merge static parts, remove hidden geometry, and only animate what viewers notice. Running ModelEngine on Paper or Purpur also gives you the best rendering path.

Watch density and distance Ten heavy models on screen always cost more than one, so cap ambient custom mobs and prefer a few high-impact set pieces over crowds. Models that only matter up close do not need to animate from 60 blocks away.

Curated products on Mineassets are reviewed with these budgets in mind, so what you buy is built to run.
